Google on Tuesday said it acquisition a software company Quickoffice, which allows users to create and edit documents on mobile devices.
Agreement was, helps Google compete with Microsoft and other parties within the scope of mobile software that allows users to view, edit and create documents compatible with Microsoft formats like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
"We work very hard to build easy to use Quickoffice to users, seamlessly, and provide a powerful way to view, edit, align share documents anywhere, anytime. This is an exhilarating experience to see this vision accepted by our users," said Quickoffice founder Alan Masarek. "Now, we headed to a new phase with Google."
Alan Warren, director of engineering for Google, called Quickoffice as "a leader in office productivity solutions."
"Today, consumers, businesses and schools using Google Apps for their work that can be done from anywhere, with anyone and on any device.
Quickoffice has an established track record and allows seamless interoperability with popular file formats, and we will work give the company's technology, for our application product suite, "said Warren posted on Google's blog.
